NubHex 3 Guide

User Guide & Care Instructions

Introduction

The NubHex3 and NubHex are compact, versatile tools designed for both in-shop use and on-the-go repairs. Their small size makes them easy to carry in a pocket, saddle bag, or tool kit while still providing the functionality needed for common adjustments.

These tools are designed to accommodate the most commonly used hex bolt sizes in cycling and light mechanical work:

  • 3 mm

  • 4 mm

  • 5 mm

Whether you're performing quick adjustments on the trail or working in the shop, NubHex tools provide a simple and effective solution for everyday hex bolt needs.

Important Usage Considerations

To ensure long-term performance and reliability, please review the following guidelines.

Chemical Compatibility

Avoid exposing NubHex3 or NubHex to harsh chemicals such as:

  • Acetone

  • Mineral spirits

  • Strong degreasers or solvents
These substances may damage the tool housing material.

Temperature Exposure

These tools are not designed for high-temperature environments. Avoid leaving them in areas exposed to extreme heat, such as inside vehicles on hot days or near heat sources.

Torque Limits

NubHex tools are designed for light to moderate torque applications. Avoid applying excessive force when tightening or loosening bolts.

Applying too much torque may cause the hex bit to rotate slightly inside the tool housing, which may make removal more difficult and require pliers to remove the bit.

Bit Insertion (NubHex3 Model)

When inserting the main hex bit into the NubHex3, do not push the bit past the indicated insertion line.

These tools use a friction-fit system, and pushing the bit in too far may make future bit removal or changes more difficult.

Insert the bit only up to the indicated mark for proper fit and function.

Troubleshooting Stiff or Tight Bits

In some cases—especially after shipping or exposure to colder temperatures—the hex bits may feel stiff and difficult to remove.
This is normal and typically resolves with use.

For the main hex bit:

  • Use pliers or vice grips to gently pull the bit out.

  • Slide the bit in and out several times to loosen the fit.

For the smaller bits:

  • Use a small screwdriver to carefully push the bit out from the opposite side.

After a few uses, the friction fit will typically loosen slightly, allowing for easier bit changes.
