STEAM DRAGON AND STEAM UNICRON - Guide

Instant Pot Steam Dragon & Steam Unicorn – Steam Release Diverter

The Steam Dragon and Steam Unicorn for Instant Pot are fun and practical accessories designed to safely redirect steam during pressure release. Instead of steam venting straight upward, these diverters channel the steam forward through the dragon’s mouth or the unicorn’s horn, helping direct hot steam away from cabinets, hands, and surrounding surfaces. This adds an extra level of convenience and safety while bringing a bit of personality and style to your kitchen.

The diverter is designed to fit over the pressure release valve and redirect steam in a controlled direction. It should only be installed when you are ready to cook or release pressure.

Important Notes & Safety Instructions:

Place the Steam Dragon or Steam Unicorn on the Instant Pot steam valve before starting the pressure cooking cycle. Installing it after pressure has already built may result in steam releasing before the diverter is fully seated.

Immediately after the pressure release cycle is complete, remove the Steam Dragon or Steam Unicorn and rinse it under cool water.  This helps cool the material and prevents it from becoming warm from prolonged exposure to steam.

Compatibility
Designed for newer Instant Pot models with the round pressure release valve (see compatibility image in the listing).

Steam Direction
Always position the dragon’s mouth or unicorn’s horn so steam is directed toward a safe, open area. Never aim the steam toward people, pets, cabinets, or other objects, as high-temperature steam can cause burns or damage.

Proper Fit
The Steam Dragon and Steam Unicorn use a snug friction fit. Do not push the diverter all the way down onto the valve, as this may cause it to become difficult to remove. A light, partial press is sufficient for proper operation.

Handling After Use
After the pressure release is complete, remove the diverter and rinse with cool water.
Do not press on the lower sides of the diverter, and do not leave it installed on the valve after the steam release cycle.

Cleaning
Hand wash recommended. The Steam Dragon and Steam Unicorn are not dishwasher safe.
